「1990 年代の申請の半数以上（52.7％）は中国、韓国、台湾の東アジアからだった。ところが 30 年後の 2020 年代初頭、東アジアからの申請は全体の 11.7％を占めるにすぎず、その 4 分の 3 強は東南アジアからやってきている。とすれば 30 年後、インドやバングラデシュ、ネパール、スリランカといった、今後とも多くの若者が高等教育を受けるようになる南アジアからの申請が大幅に増えていたとしても不思議ではない」
